Staying Steady: Falls Prevention Workshop

Staying Steady: Preventing Falls This Winter
1 in 3 older adults who live at home will fall over at least once a year. Despite this, falls are not an inevitable part of getting older. ElWell physiotherapist Nancy Farmer and Oxford Aunts will talk about falls prevention at home. Including exercise, risks to look out for, safety tips, easy home adaptations and building up confidence post fall. One to attend if you’re worried about your balance, or have a parent who has fallen over.

Home Comforts: Growing Older At Home
Independent living is important to so many people as they get older, but helping a loved one achieve this can be confusing and stressful. We’ll help you understand how you can support a family member to stay in their home. From communicating with carers, exercises to build strength, equipment designed to make life easier and what to consider when looking at home care and support. Come along and get all your questions answered.

Conversation, Communication & Dementia
Communicating with a loved one who has dementia can be a challenge. Dementia Champion Shila Odedra-Silvera will talk you through some of the challenges and ideas of how you could overcome them, games, ideas and equipment designed to help you reminisce together.
Please feel free to bring your loved one along – there will be trained Oxford Aunts carers there to keep them busy whilst you're busy.
